How to Unlock Bootloader on Any Xiaomi, Redmi, or POCO Device
Unlocking the bootloader is the first step if you want to flash custom ROMs, install Magisk, or root your Xiaomi, Redmi, or POCO smartphone. This guide works on devices running MIUI or HyperOS.
⚠️ Warning Before You Begin
- Unlocking will wipe all data. Backup your phone first!
- It may void your warranty in some regions.
- Ensure you're using your Mi Account for 7 days on the device.
📦 What You Need
- A Windows PC or laptop
- Mi Unlock Tool (official)
- Original USB cable
- Stable internet connection
🔓 Steps to Unlock Bootloader
- Enable Developer Options:
Go toSettings > About phone
and tap MIUI version 7 times. - Enable OEM Unlocking & USB Debugging:
Go toSettings > Additional settings > Developer options
and enable:- OEM Unlocking
- USB Debugging
- Add Mi Account:
In Developer options, tap on Mi Unlock status and log in to your Mi Account. Make sure your SIM and internet are active. - Download Mi Unlock Tool:
Visit https://en.miui.com/unlock and download the official Mi Unlock Tool. Extract the zip file. - Boot Your Phone into Fastboot Mode:
Power off the phone, then press and hold Volume Down + Power buttons until the Mi Bunny fastboot screen appears. - Connect to PC and Unlock:
Launch the Mi Unlock Tool, log in with the same Mi Account. It will check your permission. Click "Unlock" and wait.
⏳ Waiting Period
Some users may see a message like: "Please unlock 168 hours later." This is normal. Try again after the given time period.
✅ After Unlocking
Your phone will reboot and erase all data. Setup again. You can now flash custom recovery (like TWRP) and root using Magisk if needed.
